I have been so lucky in my singing career studying with some of the
world’s most respected singers both in the world of musical theatre and opera.
My great grandparents, grandparents and parents were all stage
performers & musicians and despite all advice to choose a sensible
career my heart told me otherwise and I found myself treading the
boards and singing my heart out both in the UK and in Europe.
The first stroke of luck came when I met Ian Adam, an amazing voice
coach who trained both Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford
amongst many other famous names in musical theatre. Ian took my
fledgling voice, believed in me and helped launch me into my first
leading role as Jenny Lind, the Swedish Nightingale, in Barnum
where I had such fun touring all over the UK.
As my voice developed, both Ian and I realised that I was headed
in a more classical direction and with the help of some dear friends
in Rome, I ended up going to audition for the world famous soprano,
Luckily for me, I didn’t realise how famous Antonietta really was as I
would never have made it through the audition! Antonietta saw some
kind of potential and I studied privately with her for over 5 years, living in poverty in Rome and flitting back to the UK to earn some pennies occasionally.
Antonietta taught me the art of Bel Canto – it is a fading art as there are very few teachers left who were actually taught from the original masters and I
feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to learn this amazing way of singing – it’s like opening up your soul and just letting the sound flow.
From there, I performed with various opera companies, in solo concerts and in many interesting theatre roles both in the UK and Italy.
Finally, I settled in Umbria in Italy in 2003 and lived there for 10 years during which time I sang at countless weddings for ceremonies and receptions in so many beautiful locations.
Now I have moved back to the UK with my family and am so looking forward to singing for more weddings, receptions and events here too.
